On 25 May 2025, the journal exchange conference was held in Beijing. This conference was sponsored by the official journal of WASWC— International Soil and Water Conservation Research (ISWCR), hosted by the International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES).

Prof. Qingbin Pan, Deputy Director of IRTCES, the first organizer of the journal, delivered an opening speech, and the conference was hosted by Prof. Pengfei Du, Deputy Chief of the International Exchange and Information Department of IRTCES. Representatives from journal organizers, publishers, co-organizers and invited experts from excellent domestic English journals attended the meeting, discussing the future development path of journals and helping the internationalization process of Chinese science and technology journals.

Prof. Qingbin Pan pointed out in his speech that ISWCR as the official journal of the WASWAC, is an academic journal facing the needs of the public and serving the discipline of soil and water conservation, and has built up a good reputation in the international academic and publishing circles since its launching in 2013. In November 2024, ISWCR was successfully selected as one of the journals to be included in the China plan for the promotion of excellence in science and technology Journals (Phase II) . This is both an opportunity and a challenge, a confirmation and recognition of the past development achievements, but also a higher expectation and requirement for the future development. The organizers of the journal will continue to strengthen the integration of resources, promote the continuous improvement of the ability to run the journal, and make every effort to build a platform for academic exchanges with international influence.

Prof. Paige Chyu, Executive Editor of the journal is high systematic introduction to the development of the journal, and focuses on the progress made since the selection of promotion of excellence in science and technology Journals (Phase II) ..

In the invited report session, Prof. Wushuang Li, Editorial Board of Biochar from Shenyang Agricultural University, shared her valuable experience that Biochar was included in SCI and ranked No.1 in the field of soil science in two years after its publication under the title of ‘Exploration and Practice of Establishing International Journals’. Ms. Huan Yin, Associate Editor of English Journal Department of Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU), introduced the successful model of cluster development of English journals of NAU on the topic of ‘Digital practice of scientific and technological journals collaborative office’. Ms. Ling Zhou, Editor of Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, systematically elaborated the paths and thoughts of enhancing the influence of journals in the light of the history of Advances in Atompsheris Sciences. Prof. Yu Tao, Associate Researcher of Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), analyzed the core ideas and key points of the establishment of English journals by taking the new domestic journal Environmental Science and Ecotechnology as an example.

Prof. Baoyuan Liu of Beijing Normal University, editor-in-chief of ISWCR, presided over the exchange and discussion session, in which the participating experts conducted in-depth discussions on the topics of international operation, digital transformation and influence enhancement of journals, and put forward a lot of constructive opinions.
