In order to help the youth
worldwide to play greater roles in the scientific research, technological
development, and demonstration & popularization of soil and water
conservation, encourage and support the young generation to undertake the
historical responsibility entrusted by the times, and to achieve sustainable
development in soil and water conservation, World Association of Soil and Water
Conservation (WASWAC) will continue to organize the International Youth Forum
on Soil and Water Conservation (IYFSWC) following the first two sessions, which
were held successfullyin Nanchang, China in October 2015 andin Moscow, Russia in
August 2018.
The third IYFSWC was aimed to
be held at Tarbiat Modares University, Iran, during May 16-21, 2021, however,
affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, international visits have been becoming
difficult. Hence the forum was preliminary postponed to October 16-21, 2021,
with the support from China
Society of Soil and Water Conservation (CSSWC), Institute of Soil and Water
Conservation of CAS and MWR (ISWC), Beijing Datum Technology Development Co.,
LTD., International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation
(IRTCES), Watershed Management Society of Iran, Gorgan University of
Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, Ministry of Agriculture-Jahad
Agricultural Research, Education & Extension Organization (AREEO), and
Iranian National Commission for UNESCO.
During the forum, the WASWAC
will present the Outstanding Youth Paper Award (DATUM) 2021, which is set up by
WASWAC especially for the outstanding young researchers under the age of 40 (born after Jan. 1, 1980).
The winners will obtain the certificate issued by WASWAC and a $1000 (USD) honorarium.
By the deadline - Jan 31, 2021, 51 confirmed applications with full papers have
been received (details seehere), all of these manuscripts will soon move forward to the second phase of
evaluation that will take about 2 months. The final result of awardees will be
announced on the WASWAC website and website for the third IYFSWC.
As an important platform of
academic progress presentation and to research ideas exchange, we sincerely
invite worldwide scholars, students, and relevant enterprises engaged in the
scientific research, technology development, management, teaching and training
and engineering design of soil and water conservation, to participate in this
forum to share your latest research or technology progress, with oral
presentation or poster display either in virtual or onsite ways.
