WASWAC Council meeting was held on 12th of June in Lleida, Spain during the first World Conference on Soil and Water Conservation under Global Change (CONSOWA).

Participants include professors Rattan Lal, Winfried Blum, Samir El-Swaify, Rui Li, Jos?Luis Rubio, Mark Nearing, Miodrag Zlatic, Valentin Golosov, Ildefonso Pla Sent, Camelo Dazzi, Tingwu Lei, Fenli Zheng, Duihu Ning, Yuehong Chen, Bin Wang, Sayjro Kossi Nouwakpo, other WASWAC individual members, and members from other related academic associations. President Rui Li chaired this meeting.

                                                 

                                               

                                               

(1) Professor Duihu Ning, the Secretary General of our association, presented a brief introduction of WASWAC council progresses since WASWAC World Conference III, which was held in August 2016. In the past several months, our main efforts are concentrated on the following 2 aspects. One is to perfect the organization structure of new council and to develop a new plan of WASWAC development in the coming 3 years. Another is to complete the change of Editorial Board and to propose new operation scheme for ISWCR. The new council for 2017-2019 is composed 15 Advisers and 40 councilors. They are from 26 countries and cover Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Australia. Except for the existent committees including Organization Committee, Publications Committee, Awards Committee, Academic Meetings Committee, Finance and Funds Committee, International Cooperation, Development Committee, and the Youth Committee, a new committee - the Industry development committee - is in the process of preparing. It will be a platform for sharing innovation achievements of new products, new instruments, and new technologies of soil and water conservation in the world.

(2) Dr. Mark Nearing, Editor in Chief of ISWCR, gave a brief report on our official Journal. He expressed the New Board will make more efforts to promote ISWCR becoming a higher level academic journal. We hope that all our members can provide all possible support during this process.

(3) Professor Valentin Golosov announced that the Second International Youth Forum on Soil and Water Conservation (2nd IYFSWC) will be held on 27-31 August 2018 in Moscow. The first-round flyer has been sent out, and the official website has been designed (http://www.eng.geogr.msu.ru/IYFSWC).

(4) President Rui Li reported the progress of Fourth World Conference preparing, which will be held jointly with the ISCO 20 in New Delhi, India in 2019. Any new progress will be announced as soon as we can.

After presentations, there was a short discussion among all participated councilors, who were all happy to take this opportunity to communicate, to exchange, and to discuss.
