The second international Youth Forum on Soil and Water Conservation (2nd IYFSWC) is aimed to be held at Lomonosov Moscow state University during August 27 to 31, 2018.



The Organizers are Lomonosov Moscow State University and World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC), Co-organizers include International Commission on Continental Erosion (ICCE) of International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), World Large Rivers Initiative and Interuniversity Council on Fluvial and Soil Erosion Research, International Research and Training Center on Erosion and Sedimentation (IRTCES), China Society of Soil and Water Conservation (CSSWC), and Institute of Soil and Water Conservation of CAS & MWR.
2nd IYFSWC will address:
- Challenges/actions of soil and water management in the changing world
- Mechanism/processes and modelling of soil degradation
- Innovation of technology of soil and water conservation
- Ecological restoration and regional sustainable development
- How to play the roles of youth in soil and water conservation
Conference program will include:
- Plenary lectures by keynote speakers - internationally recognized scientists
- Oral and poster thematic sessions
- Field excursion to the World largest hydro-technical projects - water transfer from Volga River to Moscow city
- Cultural program in Moscow
- Post-conference tours to the cities of Saint-Petersburg and Kazan
- Extra-program - special thematic part-time courses for young scientists. The participants of the workshops will get official certificate of Moscow State University
Outstanding Youth Paper Award:
To encourage early-career scientists to contribute to soil and water conservation in the world, the WASWAC has launched the WASWAC Youth Outstanding Paper Award (DATUM) 2018. The award will be presented at the second International Youth Forum on Soil and Water Conservation (IYFSWC) which will be held on August 27-31, 2018 in Moscow, Russia. The application for the award is open from now.
This award will be presented to early-career scientists of outstanding research papers on soil and water conservation. The award consists of a Certificate from the WASWAC and a $1000 (USD) honorarium. In case of multi-author papers, the award will be presented only to the first author. The WASWAC Youth Outstanding Paper Award (DATUM) 2018 is financially supported by the Beijing Datum Technology Company.
Eligibility:
The first author of the manuscript should be at their early career in research. In principle, preference will be given to scientists who are 40 years old or younger by December 31, 2018.
The papers should have creativity and originality, as reflected in new insights, interpretations, facts, innovations, methods, or applications.
The papers should be written in English and should be clear, concise, comprehensible, and jargon-free, such that the papers are easy to read and understand.
The papers submitted for consideration for the award should not have been previously published, and the authors should submit the paper for an oral presentation at the second International Youth Forum on Soil and Water Conservation (IYFSWC) and agree to publish the same in International Soil and Water Conservation Research (ISWCR), the official journal of WASWAC.
The previous awardees in 2015 and 2016 are ineligible for the award in 2018.
Procedure:
Application: The author should submit the abstract along with the application form duly completed by March 31, 2018. The full paper must be submitted on or before May 31, 2018.
Nomination and Peer-review process: The Award Committee will screen and nominate the research papers that will undergo the peer-review process by the experts.
Evaluation and selection: Based on the results of the peer-review process, the Award Committee will select the Outstanding Youth Paper Awardees.

Final awardees announcement: August 2018
